Course Description/Objectives

Prayer, Sacraments and Vocations is a class designed to educate students about the Christian life. Students will develop an understanding of the types of prayer and its importance. Students will be aware of the idea and importance of the sacraments. They will also comprehend the important link between the sacramental life of the church and the prayer life of the individual. The student will be able to articulate how faith causes a change in heart and how this change causes a Christian to live a prayerful and sacramental life. Finally, the student will understand the importance of the universal call to holiness as a part of faith and how prayer and a sacramental life are an intricate part of each persons vocation. Essentially the student will have the tools to live a holy and Christian life wherever they are and whatever they are doing!!!

Grading and Assignments

Grading will be based on a point system with an array of assignments encompassing: Daily Homework, Quizzes, Reflection papers, Projects, Papers, Tests, Final Exam, and Participation.

· Daily assignments will be worth approximately 5-15 points each

· Quizzes are worth approximately 10-15 points

· Tests are worth approximately 50-100 points

· Extra Credit opportunities will be made available throughout semester – If the extra credit is late, there is NO credit given.

· There will be note checks at various times throughout the semester that go towards a participation grade.

Grading Scale –

A 94-100 B+ 87-89 C+ 77-79 D+ 67-69

A- 90-93 B 84-86 C 74-76 D 64-66

B- 80-83 C- 70-73 D- 60-63

F 59 and below

To Obtain Full Credit

Ÿ All assignments must be turned in at the beginning of class on the date that it is due

Ÿ Name and class period on top of page

Ÿ Every day an assignment is late, one letter grade will be deducted from the assignment.

Ÿ Daily Assignments and Tests: It is the student’s responsibility to find out missed work. Daily assignments missed due to an absence should be turned in after the student returns - see teacher for due dates. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule tests with the teacher outside of class time.

Ÿ Three ring binder

Ÿ White college rule paper

Ÿ Pen (no red)

Requirements

Ÿ Abide by all school rules – Be on time!

Ÿ Bring proper materials for each day of class!

Ÿ Participate in class activities with kindness and respect!

Ÿ Come to class each day smiling!
